The NAHJ Washington, D.C. Chapter co-sponsored the D.C. Latino Caucus Mayoral Forum and Straw Poll Saturday, March 1. All eight democrats running for mayor attended the forum at the Josephine Butler Parks Center in Northwest D.C. The D.C. Chapter did not endorse any candidate, nor did we participate in the vote or counting. We secured moderators Ray Suarez from Al Jazeera America and Maria Rosa Lucchini from Noticias D.C. More than 200 community members attended.

Candidates Andy Shallal, Jack Evans, current mayor Vincent Gray, and Reta Jo Lewis were the first to arrive to the mayoral forums. Other candidates, Muriel Bowser, Vincent Orange, and Tommy Wells arrived late to the forum.
