The fifth annual Washington Journalism Job Fair was held on Saturday, April 7 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies campus in downtown Washington. More than 200 people participated in the fair – 203 were job seekers from the Washington area and beyond. Eighteen media companies recruited at the event, including Axios, National Geographic and Buzzfeed News which recruited at the fair for the first time. The participating recruiters included radio, television, local, national and Spanish-language outlets.
The job fair was hosted by the Georgetown University Master of Professional Studies in Journalism program in partnership with a coalition of diverse journalism groups that included the D.C. chapters of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, the Asian American Journalism Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Journalists Association, the Washington Association of Black Journalists, and the Journalism and Women Symposium. The organizers want to thank the volunteers, recruiters and Georgetown University’s Masters in Journalism Program for helping make the event a big success.
