NAHJ DC to host elections coverage training with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press on Oct. 24

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press is releasing a new guide for journalists covering elections and polling places in advance of the 2018 midterm elections.
NAHJ-DC invites you to join RCFP for an in-person training based on the guide, which provides an overview of legal issues that journalists may face while covering Election Day on November 6, including around exit polling and “ballot selfies.” *
The training will be led Reporters Committee Legal Director Katie Townsend, Staff Attorney Sarah Matthews, and Legal Intern Audrey Greene
WHEN: Wednesday, October 24 from 9–10:30 a.m.
WHERE: RCFP’s office, 1156 15th St. NW, Suite 1020, Washington, D.C. 20005.
Please RSVP to Jenn Topper, jtopper@rcfp.org, as space is limited. Coffee and pastries will be provided.
*Please note, the guide does not replace the legal advice of an attorney. Journalists with additional questions or in need of assistance should contact the Reporters Committee’s hotline via its form, hotline@rcfp.org, or 800.336.4243.
